Although this website has been around since 2007 it was badly falling out of date. Part of that due to software that was difficult and cumbersome to begin with and part of it due to my busy life the last several years.

Well I’m relaunching the site. This time built on an expanded version of wordpress, which I’m much more familiar with.

I’m pleased to have you here. This is a community. A mini social network for Michigan based filmmakers and outside filmmakers who are shooting pictures in this great state.

We’ve got a lot to catch up on. It has been a crazy few years with the state film incentives and then the restriction of film incentives which shut down a lot of potential productions.

All of that said, it’s important that we as Michigan filmmakers, actors and support push forward. There is still great and promising work to be done here.

Our affiliation with Toledo Filmmakers’ Organization, a local filmmaking group with the sole purpose of advancing independent filmmaking in Toledo and the surrounding area, makes us a unique alternative to the average film magazine.

The project is being funded by local investors as well as Hollywood California based Raleigh Studios and Beverly Hills (California) based Endeavor Talent Agency. Also throwing money into the development is Michigan Economic Growth Authority. 

The studio is expected to create around 3,600 jobs and another 1,500 jobs indirectly related by the year 2020. Average weekly wage estimated to be around $824. 

This is something we should all pay close attention to. Larger productions coming into the state will also trickle down to smaller productions done by indiependent filmmakers. All of which will help the local and state economy which has fallen so far off track.

My first short film, Snow Day, has entered pre-production. It is a comedy about a gamer’s day off during a snowstorm. I am seeking two male actors in their 20’s and an editor. I expect filming to begin in early February and post in late February or early March.

Compensation:

Actors – Unpaid, but you will receive a DVD of the film, a link on my website, and meals while filming. This is a great opportunity for students and amateurs.

Editor – A small negotiable fee, a DVD of the film, and a link on my website. I probably can’t afford a professional, so editing students and amateurs are encouraged to apply.
